How EDNDrop Works

EDNDrop is built to be the fastest, most frictionless file transfer tool on the web. It uses modern WebRTC technology to connect two devices directly, making transfers incredibly fast and secure.

1. Direct Peer-to-Peer Connection

When you connect to another device via a PIN or Share Link, EDNDrop acts purely as a matchmaker. Our signaling server introduces the two devices, and then they establish a direct, encrypted tunnel between them.

2. The 4-Digit PIN System

The 4-digit PIN is uniquely tied to your active browser session. When a sender enters your PIN, a real-time WebSocket event alerts your browser to prompt you with an Accept/Decline pop-up.

3. High-Speed Chunking

EDNDrop bypasses traditional server upload limits by breaking large files down into hyper-small chunks (typically 16KB-64KB) in your browser. These chunks are streamed instantly to the receiver and reassembled seamlessly. Memory usage is kept low, making GB-sized transfers completely feasible.
